Biography

B.A., Samford University; M.B.A., University of South Florida; M.A., Ph.D., Ohio State University.
Dr. Pearson currently serves as M.B.A. Program Director at PBA, and is advisor to the Sailfish
Fund, PBA’s new student managed investment portfolio. He worked in investments for many
years before pursuing an academic career and continues to serve as President and Chief
Investment Officer of Value View Financial Corp., an equity-focused money management firm,
which he founded in Orlando in 1999. Dr. Pearson has taught business finance and economics
courses at many institutions, including the University of South Florida and Washington College.
Before coming to PBA, Dr. Pearson served in academic leadership at Charleston Southern
University in South Carolina, first as Director of the MBA Program, and then as Department
Chair, where he led the school to develop new emphases in Entrepreneurship, and Human
Resource Management. His consulting and scholarly interests include microfinance, and
investment markets in the developing world. His dissertation focused on microfinance, and the
impact of reputation and relations on the repayment behavior of borrowers. He has also
written on ethics in financial markets. He is a member of the American Finance Association, the
Association of Private Enterprise Education, the Association of Christian Economists and the
Christian Business Faculty Association, and an honoree of Phi Kappa Phi national honor society,
Pi Gamma Mu national social science honorary society and Beta Gamma Sigma international
business honor society. He and his wife Christy have two children, Zach and Kate
